We are a charity established in 2021, with a focus on improving people's mental health and wellbeing. Our story starts with another charity, Outside the Box Development Support Ltd. Outside the Box had run projects in Falkirk and surrounding areas since 2015. The projects were varied, but most involved peer support in some form. In 2021 it was decided that the projects in Falkirk were distinct from the rest of the work of Outside the Box and that it would be best for them to become part of a brand new charity, run by local people, with lived experience of mental ill health, either their own or a loved one's. And that's how Central Wellbeing SCIO was born. Our Board is made up of people living or working in Falkirk, with lived experience of poor mental health (or caring for someone with poor mental health).
We are running 4 projects in Falkirk at the moment: Permission to Dream - Mental health peer support groups in partnership with Outside the Box Falkirk Food Connections - peer support around food, in partnership with Outside the Box Make and Mend - A creative group for mending and upcycling - good for the soul and the planet! In partnership with Westfield Park Community Centre Falkirk Friends - One to one support for people with poor mental health, who are not ready to join a group just yet
